A Queen in Every Season!
Some women dip a toe into boudoir once, just to see what it’s like. And then there are women like Kathleen, who dive in, fall in love with the experience, and come back for more. Not once, not twice, but four times! Every session with her has been a bold act of self-celebration, and we’ve had the absolute honor of witnessing her stepping more and more into her power with each shoot.
When Kathleen first reached out, she had one very personal reason in mind: “I have always wanted to step outside my comfort zone and pose in front of a camera,” she said. But after having her daughter, things changed for her. She told us, “I had a new appreciation for my body and finally loved myself for the first time. I wanted to celebrate my body by photographing it, be pampered before my shoot, and know what it felt like to be the center of attention for a little while.”
She was nervous before her session which is totally normal. 99% of our clients are! “I had my lingerie and tried it on several times,” she admitted. “I went back and read my pre-session emails about 10 times to make sure I wasn’t missing anything or forgetting to do something.” While she felt love for her body, she still had some hesitations. “I wasn’t prepared for having my stomach on display, the one area of my body that I hide the most.” And like so many women, she worried about what to do with her face, but that’s where the posing guidance came in. “Kayla’s instructions were easy to follow,” she said, “and I loved that she’s willing to recreate the pose to show you exactly what to do.”
Once the camera came out, Kathleen made it a priority to focus on being present and made a huge impact. “I felt crazy beautiful in my lingerie and all done up with hair and makeup,” she said. “I didn’t let myself have any negative thoughts, because I wanted the experience to be completely positive and it definitely was!” Her favorite surprise from the day? “That my eyes were closed most of the time, and that I was thankful for my long hair because it made me feel even more sexy!”
There was one standout moment she’ll never forget: “When Kayla showed me images from her camera, I could have cried. I couldn’t believe how beautiful the pictures were, and that it was me on the screen! My booty looked phenomenal and I couldn’t get over how comfortable I felt.”
By the time she walked out of the studio, she was glowing. “I had the biggest smile plastered on my face,” she said. “I had an amazing time, loved Kayla, and was so excited to see the end product.” And when she finally did? “I was absolutely floored. I’m sure Kayla could see my cheeks get red while I was reviewing all of my pictures. I could not believe that beautiful woman on the screen was me- ME!”
Since then, Kathleen has come back for our Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine’s sessions with each one showing off a new facet of who she is. “They are all different but have the same beautiful element: me.”
What really hits us in the heart is what she says about her transformation:
“The way I see myself has shifted. Any chance I get, I’m in front of Kayla’s camera, celebrating my body, feeling sexy and bold. I love it so much. I see myself as a curvy, voluptuous queen, and I love showing off my body in everyday life. Outside of work, I’m more willing to wear crop tops and tight-fitting clothes that make me feel sexy instead of hiding under oversized shirts and sweaters.”
Her images are more than beautiful. They’re powerful artifacts of a self-love journey. “They show me a journey through healing my self-image that’s plagued me my entire life. I’m so grateful for taking the chance, and I’m so glad I did. Boudoir has changed my life.”
And let’s not forget her album. “I got the little black book and I love the quality of it. It’s thick and leathery, and looks so elegant and chic. I love handing it to people and watching them flip through it.” Her first session was a gift for her husband –“and he loved the book”– but the sessions after? That’s all for her. “I share digitals with people I’m comfortable with, but these shoots are about me feeling amazing.”
When she flips through her images now, what goes through her mind?
“Damn, she’s sexy,” she laughs. And honestly? We couldn’t agree more.
