For me, boudoir photography is so much more than the glam and gorgeous photos. It’s about reclaiming space for yourself in a world that’s constantly asking you to shrink.
If you’ve ever felt like you had to earn rest, beauty, or even being seen… this is for you.
And after reading this, you might just find that booking a boudoir experience could be the most powerful thing you do for yourself.
I didn’t grow up thinking I’d be a boudoir photographer. In fact, I was on a path to become a nurse. I even earned my cosmetology license along the way, chasing stability while trying to check all the “right boxes.” But sometimes, life has a way of shoving you into your purpose.
My mom taught me photography when I was young, and after I decided to leave healthcare, my dad gifted me a camera for Christmas. I didn’t realize it then, but that was the beginning of a whole new chapter- one that would heal me in ways I didn’t know I needed.
I started my photography business in 2019 and just six months later I lost my mom to an overdose. She had been clean for ten years! Her death, stacked on top of two other heartbreaking losses in just three months, brought everything to a halt. I didn’t touch my camera for six months. I couldn’t. I was the visual example of “death fog”.
Then, as I was on my way to an appointment one day, I was listening to Cathy Heller’s podcast, and I can’t tell you the main topic to save my life, but one statement cut through all of the noise in my mind and made me pay attention. Well, more like it punched me in the gut.
That was it. That was the moment. I decided I would find my purpose, even if it hurt. And that’s when I found boudoir.
I signed up for a styled shoot in Kansas City, not expecting much but I got more than I could have even dreamed of! What I witnessed was real, raw, unapologetic strength. I saw how we as women could step into ourselves in a way that society constantly told us not to. This cracked something open in me. I started thinking about all the women, my mother included, who never felt like they were enough. Who constantly carried the weight of trying to be everything to everyone. Who learned, through trauma or conditioning, to ignore their own needs.
My mom didn’t lose her battle to addiction because she didn’t love her family enough to stay clean. She lost it because her childhood trauma convinced her she was never worthy of love in the first place. And when you can’t love yourself, it’s damn near impossible to let anyone else love you either.
I shoot boudoir because I want to show women what the mirror never could:
That you are whole, even in your mess.
That you are beautiful, even if no one ever told you so.
That you are strong, even when you’re still healing.
That your sensuality is not a shame to be tucked away.
That you are worthy- without the job title, the mom title, or any other title. Just you, as you are!
To be completely transparent… I’ve survived being a teen mom. I’ve survived being assaulted in multiple ways. I’ve lived through domestic violence, addiction and alcoholism in my family, grief so deep it tried to swallow me on more occasions than I want to count. And yet, I’m still here- stronger, louder, and more unapologetically myself than I’ve ever been. Boudoir is how I fight back. Boudoir is how I heal. Boudoir is how I help others reclaim what the world has tried to steal from them.
Every client I work with, I guide through the entire process- from their first message to the moment they pick up their artwork. I help them breathe, pose, relax, and own it. Even if they feel awkward at first (and let’s be real, most do), I make damn sure they leave feeling seen.
I want them to feel powerful. Sensual. Soft and fierce at the same time.
I want them to leave with images that make them say, “Holy shit, that’s ME?”
I do it for the woman I was.
The mother I lost.
The sister I love.
The daughters we’re raising.
The generations that deserve more than survival.
So no, it’s not “just pictures.” It’s proof. That you showed up. That you’re here. And that you are, without a doubt, enough.
You don’t need permission to show up for yourself.
You don’t need to wait until you “lose the weight” or “feel ready.”
You’re allowed to take up space right now.
Because you are worthy of being seen, feeling beautiful and having proof of the strength you carry every damn day.
